Draper Fisher Jurvetson Closes $290 Million Growth Fund

US venture capital fund Draper Fisher Jurvetson has closed a new fund - DFJ Growth Fund - at about $290 million. The fund's initial target was $250 million. DFJ recently entered India with an on the ground presence in Bangalore (where it stationed Managing Director Mohanjit Jolly) and Hyderabad (venture partner Sateesh Andra). DFJ's Jolly told VC Circle last month that the firm would look at investing about $75 million in Indian ventures.
It's likely some of the monies from the new fund would flow to Indian growth ventures. DFJ's current India investments include DVD rental company Seventymm, electric car maker Reva, mobile payment company mCheck, and online ad network Komli. DFJ manages about $5.7 billion in capital commitments globally.
