UBS Top Investment Bank In Asia Pac Earnings From M&A, IPOs In Jan-Sept

UBS is the top earning investment bank for the Asia-Pacific region in the January to September period, according to Dealogic. The Switzerland-headquartered investment bank has done some of the major equity transactions in China, India and Australia, which made it the top performing investment bank in the region. UBS raked in $659 million in investment-banking revenue during the period, which gave it an 8.8 per cent market share. Citigroup Inc. came second in earnings with $419 million, followed by JPMorgan Chase with $379 million. Last year’s number one ibank (during this period), Nomura Securities, has slipped to fourth place this year.
The revenue includes fees earned from M&A, IPOs, bond underwriting and syndicated loans. In India, UBS advised on deals like Vodafone Group’s $12.90 billion acquisition of 67 per cent stake in Hutchison Essar Ltd., and the $2.26 billion IPO of DLF Ltd. (See MarketWatch)
