Wipro Consumer Also Interested In Malaysia's Unza: Report

Business Standard reports that Wipro Consumer Care is close to buying the south east Asia's leading maker of personal care products for Rs 1,000 crore or $250 million. The Rs 818-crore Wipro Consumer joins other bidders like Emami Group of Kolkata and Godrej Consumer Products of Mumbai to in bidding for the stakes held by private equity funds Actis, Standard Chartered Private Equity and other shareholders.
Dabur had earlier shown interest in the company, however backed out. Unza has some 48 brands across products like soaps, shampoos, deodorants and talcum powder. It's sold through some 58,000 retail outlets in South-East Asia.
Wipro has a diversified product basket like natural sweeteners, honey, soaps, talcum powder, laxatives and light bulbs. It's part of the tech giant Wipro Technologies.
