TV18’s New Film Venture To Raise $110 Million From London’s AIM

The TV18 group is floating a new company to tap opportunities in the booming Indian film industry. The group holding firm, Network 18 Fincap Ltd, is the main sponsor of The Indian Film Company which is getting listed at London’s Alternative Investment Market. The company is expected to raise $110 million from AIM. Network l8 will invest $10 million by buying ordinary shares allotted at par.

Network18 is the TV18 group’s holding company and owns shares in TV18, Global Broadcast Network (CNN-IBN), Web18 (internet properties), HomeShop18 (home shopping network) and Studio18 (film production business).

A statement from the company said that Studio18, the motion picture division of Network 18, will “enjoy a special relationship with The Indian Film Company”. Studio18 will offer all its productions to the AIM-listed company on a “first rights” basis. It will also offer a full menu of services, including production supervision, domestic and international theatrical distribution, home video distribution, and film acquisition & syndication services.

Raghav Bahl, the founder of the TV18 Group, said, “We are excited about sponsoring The Indian Film Company on AIM. It will enable high quality international investors to reap the benefits of the structural changes and growth opportunities being thrown up by the Indian film industry.”

Sandeep Bhargava, the current CEO of Studio18, will be heading The Indian Film Company.

    high quality intl investors on AIM. bahl must be joking. i get stock spam for companies trading on AIM. all this is just an attempt to raise money in easy money conditions, nothing more nothing less.

    given quality of CNBC reporting, AIM will look as high quality investor to Behl. Luckily for him NDTV profit and Zee Business are even worst.
