Rediff Acquires Minority Stake In Tachyon Tech

It seems good times are back again for Rediff.com. The Indian portal has acquired a minority stake in Tachyon Technologies, a Bangalore-based language software startup. The financial terms are not disclosed.

The acquisition is more strategic since Tachyon's technology (called Quillpad) helps Rediff's users to use their own regional language if they would like using predictive text input technology. Users can essentially type in English to input words in other languages. Currently, Tachyon supports six languages like Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi and Tamil.

Here is another company Pdstext.com which claims that it does a better job than Tachyon's Quillpad in inputing words in languages. It also supports Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
