Hedge Funds Are Out, Private Equity Is In; India Top Destination: Survey

According to a survey by Coller Capital, which polled 109 investors or limited partners, around three-quarters of them see India, China and Central and Eastern Europe as very attractive for private equity investment. Another significant finding is that the "investor appetite for private equity funds has grown in the last six months, while enthusiasm for hedge funds has waned", the survey found. Coller Capital is a leading global investor in private equity secondaries.

Of 109 institutional investors polled...44 percent plan to raise their allocations to private equity funds, compared with 30 percent six months ago.

Their excitement over hedge funds, however, has slowed, with 30 percent planning to increase allocations to the group, down from 37 percent six months ago, a survey conducted by New York investment firm Coller Capital showed.

So private equity as an asset class is gaining dominance, and India as a destination is top on the charts. (Via Reuters)
